This class is designed to meet the needs of children who are beginning to show signs of independence. This half day two day a week program introduces the Montessori materials and practices at an introductory level. Whole group focus on movement, social engagement and big concept are practiced as well.
This class is designed for students with greater independence and stamina. First and second year children will continue to learn Montessori materials and build upon what they know. Levels of extension will gradually support the child in his or her growth. Whole group activities provide social engagement and cooperation.
This afternoon class is designed for those students who are already for a 3 hour session that meets 4 afternoons a week. The program is perfect for students who may nee some extra time before entering kindergarten. Montessori work is practiced with independence and levels of extension are added to support growth. Children should be at least 4 years of age by Sept 1 to enter.
The Kinderhaus Montessori environment is divided into several subject areas; practical life, sensorial, math, language, geometric shapes, and art. The exercises in practical life help children grow in independence in regard to looking after themselves and their environment, motor skills, and social relations.
The sensorial materials serve to educate the senses and help children train themselves to observe, make comparisons, form judgments, and use reason.
The math, language, geometric shapes and art areas include materials which encourage children to learn the basic concepts of each discipline through hands-on or manipulative activities.
In addition to individualized work, each class enjoys circle time, music, and story time. During circle time, children share their news and learn finger-plays, simple dances and songs.
Snack time is also and important part of the Kinderhaus day. Not only do the children have a nutritious snack, but they continue to use their practical life skills by setting up and serving their snack, and practicing everyday manners and courtesy.
Kinderhaus offers a well - rounded program for preschoolers. The teacher's attitude and classroom atmosphere of orderliness, friendliness, and respect fosters cognitive, social, emotional and motor growth in each child. The wonderful Montessori materials allow the children to gain proficiency in many areas of development. The Montessori philosophy encourages each child to expand at his of her own rate.
Our teachers are selected for their educational background and experience and their ability to communicate and relate with children. We have three teachers on staff with one also functioning as Director.
